We Help Retirees and Professionals Regain Clarity and Confidence Through Our Three-Pillar Hearing Care Approach in Canterbury.

Here's what we usually get asked
Our approach focuses on three key pillars: the ears, the brain, and ongoing aftercare.
Ears: We combine best-practice audiology for accurate diagnosis and fitting
Brain: Auditory training that support listening and speech processing skills
Aftercare: Structured follow-up care to ensure your results continue improving over time
Rather than just fitting devices and sending you on your way.
Listening involves both hearing sensitivity and how the brain processes sound. Even when sound is amplified, speech clarity can remain challenging. That’s why we consider both the ears and the brain when developing personalised treatment plans.
Auditory training is a structured program that helps your brain process speech more clearly in real-world situations, not just hear sounds louder. Research shows it can improve understanding in background noise by up to ~60%, with measurable results in as little as 4 weeks, and better communication outcomes than hearing aids alone. It’s especially helpful if you hear people but don’t always understand them, struggle in noisy environments, feel mentally drained after conversations, or want to get the full value from your hearing devices. While most providers focus on volume, we focus on helping your brain make sense of sound—so conversations feel clearer, easier, and far less exhausting.
Not all hearing care follows the same process. Differences often relate to the depth of assessment, the level of personalisation, the fitting protocols used, and the amount of ongoing support provided.
Our approach focuses on three pillars — the ears, the brain, and aftercare. This includes comprehensive evaluation, precise device programming when needed, and support strategies such as auditory training to help strengthen listening skills. Research suggests that combining technology with structured support can improve performance, encourage consistent use, and help clients adapt more comfortably.
Rather than a quick transactional model, our focus is on long-term outcomes and ongoing optimisation.
No. Our role is to provide clear information and personalised recommendations based on your needs and goals. Some clients begin with monitoring or auditory training before considering technology.
Yes. Many past challenges come from rushed fittings, limited follow-up, or lack of listening support. With personalised programming, ongoing optimisation, and optional auditory training, many clients experience significantly better outcomes.
Every person’s hearing and listening experience is different, which is why outcomes depend on more than just the technology itself. Our approach focuses on three pillars — the ears, the brain, and ongoing aftercare.
We begin with comprehensive assessment and precise fitting to optimise sound access. Where appropriate, auditory training is used to support listening and speech-processing skills, which research shows can help improve hearing aid performance, encourage consistent use, and support faster acclimatisation. Structured follow-up care allows us to refine your settings and strategies based on real-world feedback.
Rather than a one-size-fits-all solution, the process is designed to adapt to you — helping you achieve the best possible outcome over time.
Your appointment includes a detailed discussion, ear health check, comprehensive hearing assessment, and clear explanations of your results. You’ll receive personalised recommendations with no obligation.
That’s completely fine. Some clients begin with monitoring, communication strategies, or auditory training to support listening skills before considering technology.
Most people adapt over several weeks to months. Consistent use, structured follow-up care, and targeted auditory training can help make this adjustment smoother and more efficient.
Unlike many clinics that require clients to wait 1–2 weeks for fitting, we can typically assess and treat hearing loss on the same day, including fitting hearing aids and auditory training when appropriate.
This means most patients can walk out with improved hearing immediately after their consultation.
By being on the pension, you may be entitled to a government subsidy and subsidised hearing services. This subsidy can be used towards a fully funded hearing device (where you do not pay out of pocket) or better hearing technology for a subsidised price.
Start with a comprehensive assessment. You’ll receive clear explanations, personalised recommendations, and options that may include hearing technology, auditory training, or other strategies depending on your goals.

You avoid noisy restaurants because it’s exhausting to keep up. You nod along in conversations, hoping you didn’t mishear something important. You feel embarrassed asking people to repeat themselves — again and again. Deep down, you just want to enjoy family dinners, follow conversations clearly in background noise, and feel confident and present instead of withdrawn.

You’ve started relying on subtitles, speakerphone, or others to fill in what was said. You worry that missing parts of conversations makes you seem distracted — or worse, declining. You don’t like the idea that your hearing isn’t keeping up with you. You want your hearing to match your intellect, stay independent and capable, and feel confident you’re being proactive about your long-term quality of life.

You’ve tried hearing aids before and they didn’t deliver clarity — just more volume. They didn’t live up to expectations, and now you’re sceptical about wasting money again. You don’t want another device sitting in a drawer. You want precision, not guesswork — a structured approach that protects your investment and delivers real outcomes, not another sales transaction.

Ready to get started?
Hey, I'm Weicen Yan, the founder of NeuroHearing. I started NeuroHearing after years of working for the largest audiology chains. Overtime, I saw a gap in the audiology market where clients were spending thousands of dollars on hearing treatment only to stop after several months. This is unacceptable by our standards.
As result, in 2025 I set out on a mission to deliver top quality and long lasting care for those who need it. Through our three pillar process (Ears, Brain and Aftercare) we have been able to achieve this and have quickly picked up a few business awards along the way.
If you feel like we can help either you or a family member, please reach out.
